Short Story Writing (ages 14 – 17)

Sometimes a stronger story takes less time to tell.  Together we will work on building character, structuring your story, and developing your voice and tone as a writer.

You learn better by doing – so each session will be taken up mostly by creating work, then discussing together what can make the work stronger. We will work towards a full short story by creating a few pieces of Flash Fiction.  By the end of the class, you will have composed at least one complete short story.  This is a class for exploring and pushing the boundaries of language, writing whole ideas in small fragments, and learning how to say more, by saying less.

Mature younger writers may be admitted with instructor permission.
