The Newberg Historical Society hosts a monthly presentation focused on sharing the history of Newberg. They cover a variety of subjects, inviting community members and historians to facilitate conversations. This is a free community event, and each month is a different topic.
February Presentation: Newberg Underground!
Join the Newberg Area Historical Society this month as they welcome Russ Thomas, the Public Works Maintenance Superintendent for the City of Newberg. Mr. Thomas may not know where all the "bodies are buried", but he certainly knows where everything else is under the streets and sidewalks of Newberg.
Come hear Mr. Thomas as he shares about some of the quirks of Newberg's city infrastructure, ranging from the railroad tracks under First Street, to hidden tunnels, and long forgotten underground vaults. As Newberg has grown, there are many remnants of infrastructure over a century old that lay just a few inches beneath the pavement, or even still see use today!
Presentations are in the Grand Lobby.
