MORNING SESSION | (June- Ceramics, August- Culinary & Watercolors)

Morning Ceramics Studio | June 24th-28th | 10am - 1pm

Come grab some clay and learn to throw ceramic pieces on the wheel in our Ceramics Studio. Artists will learn the basics of wheel throwing such as centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing. Surface design techniques will also be discussed, and plenty of time given to help you create pottery that is unique to your style and taste! All materials provided. 


Eating History | August 5th-9th | 10am - 12pm

In just one week, travel around the world and through time! Cook and eat recipes that our ancestors enjoyed. Learn basic cooking skills as you taste test the past. Each day will focus on a different time and place, and include a variety of recipes for every palate. Enjoy soup, bread, desserts, and more!

Note: We will strive to accommodate dietary needs, but some recipes will require meat, dairy, gluten, etc. Please let us know about needs before camp starts. No camper will be required to eat anything they don’t want to. 

Day 1: Antiquity (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome,  prehistory to c. 500 CE)

Day 2: Medieval and Renaissance Europe (c. 500-1600 CE)

Day 3: Asia and the Middle East (c. 500-1800s CE)

Day 4: Native America (c. 1400-1800s CE)

Day 5: Americana (Colonial era to c. 1960s)


Plein Air Watercolors with Christine Joy Swanson | August 13th & 14th | 10am - 12pm

ARTIST INSTRUCTOR: Christine Joy Swanson, Professional artist & resident Watercolors & Oil Painting instructor 

SUPPLIES/MATERIALS: All materials provided (included in enrollment fee)

In this plein air workshop we will explore painting with watercolors outside. Each day will begin with a demonstration and lesson, and then the remainder of the class will be for painting in the landscape with help from Christine on individual paintings as needed.

Day One (August 13th) : Focus on How to Paint Trees

Day Two (August 14th) : Focus on How to Paint Buildings

Someone who has never touched paint before will be able to take this class and learn some of the basics of watercolors, and the experienced artist will work on the refining of their watercolor skills.

Outside class--bring water/sunscreen, seating if you’d like to be comfortable creating outside!

  • Anyone is welcome to continue wearing a mask/face covering if they prefer.

    2024 Class Cancellation Policy:

    • Up to 5 days before the start of class/camp: 100% registration fee refunded

    • Between 5 days and 48 hours before the start of class/camp: 50% of the fee is refunded and 50% is credited to your account

    • Less than 48 hours before the start of class/camp: 50% is credited to your account, 50% is forfeited.
